A South Korean gem that hasn’t been talked about much! I usually use the word “gem” when referring to movies in the Feel Good genre, so Time to Hunt (2020) is not a work that can be included in that genre. This mostly had the vibe of a serial killer movie.
About the Story (Spoiler Alert):
Due to the collapse of South Korea’s economy, the living conditions of the common people are in a very sad state, and four young people who are facing this situation plan to rob a casino and succeed. But in an unexpected way, an assassin chases after them to find out who they are and kill them. Will the four young men escape from him? Or will the killer be caught? (Spoiler Free) The film Time to Hunt (2020) portrays four young men bound by a bond of brotherhood that goes beyond friendship to fight against an evil hand to save their lives in a struggle to achieve a better quality of life.
Since it belongs to the Thriller genre, the suspense is good from the beginning to the end and the complexity of the design increases minute by minute, so the viewer has a mixed attraction toward the design. The characteristic of the “assassin” being one of the most severe types that we see in Korean works is the same here.
The film Time to Hunt (2020) will be very accessible to the audience who loves survival movies because it also contains the quality of fighting against various obstacles to save their lives. A group of young people thinks that robbing is the “most effective way” to save their lives in the existing social system and become a killer either because of the existing social system or because of a mental illness or simply to satisfy a taste for brutal pleasure. The conflict that occurs between a person happens to unfold in this work in a very violent manner. The moods portrayed by each character are well related to the plot of the film.
That’s why it can be seen that the quality of the film is at the highest level. The actors used to portray the main characters have done their job “brilliantly” and are commendable. Especially Lee Je-hoon, who plays the role of Jun-Seok, who is the leader of the group of young people, has shown that he is an excellent actor through this work. The first time I saw his acting ability was through Time to Hunt (2020) so by the time of this writing I have become a fan of him. The other character that needs to be highlighted while discussing the acting is the character of the killer. It is played by Park Hae-soo, who perfectly conveys the horror of being a ruthless killer.
Apart from that, it must be said that the rest of the actors also managed to give their best performance. There is nothing special to mention about the dialogues and you can understand that the greatness of the screenplay has led to such a high rating of the film. The contribution made by Shots, Camera Angles, Lighting, and the use of colors, etc. to increase the intensity in Time to Hunt (2020) is excellent. So Cinematography is another element that influenced the success of this production.
BGM (Background Music) contributes in an excellent way to create horror in the audience and you can understand how the quality of the design has been increased through Editing and Effects while enjoying this design. The director Yoon Sung-Hyun, who has managed to combine all these to deliver an excellent film to the audience, deserves praise. The IMDb rating of many Korean productions is very low, and many such productions are of high quality and it is clear after watching them. This is a similar design.
Give it a try. you will never be disappointed!
