A 23-year-old mother in Russia has been arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly dropping her three-year-old daughter from a balcony. Anna Ruzankina reportedly dangled her daughter, Anastasia, over the edge as punishment for crying, according to police. Tragically, the young girl fell 60 feet to her death.

In a distressing video, Anastasia can be heard pleading with her mother, saying, “Mama, I am scared. I am scared, scared, scared… I am scared.” Moments later, she fell. The footage captures her final moments before hitting the ground.

After the fall, Ruzankina retrieved her daughter’s body and was seen on CCTV holding the lifeless child in an elevator as she returned to their sixth-floor apartment in Saratov. She appeared to shake the girl, seemingly trying to revive her.
Reports suggest Ruzankina had been out at a nightclub and was drunk at the time of the incident. Local media stated she was holding the screaming child by her T-shirt over the balcony when the shirt tore, causing the fatal fall.

A witness described hearing loud screams followed by a “dull sound of falling.” He found the girl lying on the ground, covered in blood, and immediately called emergency services. Neighbors claimed Ruzankina initially told them the child had climbed over the balcony herself.
Ruzankina has been detained on suspicion of murdering a minor and could face up to 21 years in prison if convicted. The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the incident, stating, “Ruzankina dropped her young daughter, born in 2018, from the balcony. Currently, the suspect has been detained.”
